The Bed for Cheech

John Wilmer has a finishing business on Caledonia Street in Sausalito and had been asked to find someone who could convert an old Mahogany bed from a single to a king size.

The bed was an antique made in Lisbon Portugal and had been purchased by Cheech of Cheech and Chong. John Wilmer commissioned Sausalito Woodworks to undertake the difficult task of not only converting the bed to a king size but to retain the original look and to solve many of the difficult problems that the conversion would entail.

The main problem was that in order to retain the original look when the bed was widened, additional tiles had to be added to the headboard. Since matching the tiles was impossible, John Mair solved the problem by using the two embedded tiles in the footboard to the extensions on the headboard.

As you can see, the results were fabulous and Cheech was able to get his dream bed.
